No, this isn’t a Sam Jackson quote from the latest grindhouse inspired Tarantino film; it’s the impetus behind the Joplin, MO band Me Like Bees.
Formed on the heels of the 2000s indie rock scene, Missouri-based indie rock band, Me Like Bees, was created by college dropout, Pete Burton and former gas station clerk, Luke Sheafer in 2009. The pair met while playing high school football together in Kansas; only to lose touch and serendipitously end up at the same college town in southwest Missouri several years later. The duo shared a mutual affinity for the music of the aughts. Bands like The Strokes, Modest Mouse, The White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand, would serve as the catalyst to the danceable, guitar-driven rock that Me Like Bees would become known for, all of which are ever-present on their newly released sophomore full-length album — Disco Two Step.
Notably, the band released their first full-length album, The Ides, via Loveway Records in 2013. In 2014, they won first prize at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands in Hollywood, CA — beating out 20,000 other artists, and securing a coveted spot on the Vans Warped Tour. With their undeniably trajectory of growth, the group knew the next step was to make more music. They got the chance to work alongside Goldfinger frontman and well-known producer, John Feldmann for the There Will Be Time EP (2016), and they didn’t stop there. In 2018, they partnered with Image Comics and artist Jeremy Haun for the release of their graphic novel-inspired EP, Songs From The Realm.

Some shows have limited seating (or no seating) on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don't worry, though – you will want to be on your feet once the music starts!
Where can I buy tickets for shows at Blueberry Hill Duck Room?
Unless otherwise noted, tickets for shows at Blueberry Hill Duck Room can be purchased in advance on Ticketmaster.com, at The Pageant's Box Office (6161 Delmar Blvd, St Louis, MO, 63112), and Suite 100 at The Pageant. Tickets can also be purchased at the Duck Room door on the night of the show, an hour prior to door time, unless the show is sold out. Tickets are not available at the Blueberry Hill bar.
Are shows wheelchair accessible?
All shows at Blueberry Hill in the Duck Room are wheelchair accessible via an elevator in the Piano Room hallway. (Please call us 24 hours in advance to coordinate.) A small percentage of shows are in the Elvis Room, which is not accessible.
